Real Polène bags share these markers (authenticity card alone is not enough — counterfeits include fake cards):
- Leather grain: consistent, natural variation. Counterfeits show repeating mechanical patterns or plastic-like sheen.
- Stitching: tight, even, parallel — no skipped or loose threads, no glue residue at seams.
- Hardware: solid brass-tone, satin finish, no peeling, no paint chips. Buckles feel weighty.
- Lining: cream cotton with sewn-in 'Polène Paris' label. Fakes often use polyester or have crooked / glued labels.
- Zipper: pulls smoothly. Tape colour matches lining exactly.
- Stamp: 'Polène' or 'POLÈNE PARIS' debossed cleanly. Counterfeit stamps look shallow or wobble.

Daily: wipe with soft dry microfiber. Empty contents nightly. Store in dust bag if not in use 48h+.
Monthly: condition with Saphir Renovateur or Collonil Lederbalsam. Pea-size amount, work in evenly, buff after 5 minutes.
Every 6 months: apply Collonil Carbon Pro weatherproofing spray. Inspect lining, hand-wash if needed (do NOT machine-wash).
Never: baby wipes (alcohol strips oils), saddle soap (wrong product for full-grain), hairdryer drying, storing near radiators or in humid bathrooms.
